WHAT IS THE CREATIVE SPACE?

THE SPACE started as a personal place where I could explore my creativity, bringing my experiences with travel, art and people together.

As I’ve continued to travel and create, I’ve been deeply inspired by the people I’ve met throughout my travels and life experiences and wanted to share it. My ideas have always been influenced by my love for exploring new places, immersing myself in different cultures, and connecting with people.

Over time, THE SPACE has evolved into a community—a vibrant network of people who inspire me daily. These are individuals I’ve met during my travels or through life’s unexpected encounters. They are everyday people, each with their own unique skills and stories. It’s through these connections, from all corners of the world, that I’ve come to appreciate the beauty of diverse cultures and the timeless knowledge shared between us, and I want to continue to share it.

ABOUT ME

My creative journey began with a love for photography. I initially studied it at college as a bit of a "cop-out" subject, but it wasn’t until I went to university that I realised studying wasn’t for me. However, being away from home for the first time gave me a newfound sense of freedom, and I quickly became hooked. After dropping out (telling my mum I was just taking a gap year), I went to teach English in Spain. Photography took a backseat as I fell in love with travelling. I began capturing everyday moments, landscapes, and fun times with friends, all on my phone. Looking back, I can see how the rise of phone cameras and the decline of compact cameras changed the way I viewed photography.

After living in Spain for almost two years—travelling, meeting new people, and having incredible experiences—I realised that going back to university wasn’t an option. I needed to keep exploring.

Long story short, over the next ten years, I worked any job I could find, saved money, and continued my travels. That became my normal life: no structure, a little chaos, and just enough money for adventure.

As time went on, my backpacking and fast-paced travel slowed into something I now call "slow travel." Eventually, I realised that travelling no longer gave me the same sense of fulfilment. Then, COVID hit. I returned home and, while scrolling through Instagram, stumbled upon resin jewellery making. I thought, "Yeah, I can do that." I ordered supplies online, and before I knew it, GetRad was born. I started selling online, and at first, things were looking up. But once the borders opened and the world was calling again, I had the idea to merge my art with my love for travel.

Since then, I’ve been drawn to the creative community wherever I am. I find inspiration among those of us living unconventional lives, and validation that there are many ways to live life—none of them right or wrong. But I believe it’s important to share our stories and journeys, not just the destination or achievements. We need to show the beauty created from the ups and downs of life and how each chapter is a crucial part of our book of life.
Everything is a work in progress, and nothing is ever really "done."
